- I am trying to find directions on how to install our garage door opener. It did not come with an owner's manual. Do you know where I can get the directions?
You will find a directory page listing all online manuals and programming instructions I have found so far at
Garage Door Opener Installation Manuals.
We have a garage under our bedroom. Is one garage door opener quieter than others?
Yes, belt drive units are unbelievably quite.
The bracket which attaches the opener to the door came off. When the screws pulled out they pulled the metal of the door outward a little. What can I do? How do I fix this problem?
Most dealers and Home Centers carry a garage door reinforcement kit to repair this problem.
Remember to perform monthly maintenance to prevent future problems. Make sure all screws and fasteners are tight.
I have a Marantec with the M3-631 wireless keyless entry system. The keyless system has stopped working. I am trying to find a universal wireless system to replace it. The ones I have found so far do not list being compatible with the Marantec. Do you have any suggestions?
Why not get a direct replacement? Go to Amazon.com -- this should take you to the page listing this unit (opens in new window).
- I'm having trouble programming my clicker. I have a Sears Craftsman 1/2 HP. I don't know where to look for the code on the actual garage door opener. Please help.
You will find illustrated instructions in manuals --- listed at Craftsman Garage Door Opener Users Manuals
- Misplaced Installation instructions, diagram, Install Poster for PowerMax XL (4060L) garage door opener. Can you help?
The Overhead Door Corp. website is not much help. This unit is similar to the Genie Excelerator. Go to Genie Owners Manuals and scroll down to the Genie Excelerator listings. The first link in this section will open the manual. The third link goes to "Animated Assembly Instructions" which is worthwhile to watch as the visual illustrations may help in understanding directions in the manual.
- Thanks, your site was a lifesaver! I played hookey today so I could Install a garage door and a Craftsman opener I pulled from another door in the house. I neglected to mark the wires, and I could not figure out the wiring for the safety eyes. Even though you did not have instructions for a unit as old as mine, I was able to figure it out. Thanks for being there!!!
Glad the site was a help. You just made my day.
Thanks,
Don
- Trying to find a screw drive garage door opener with one piece shaft assembly. I don't want a three piece shaft, but that's all I can find locally.
Home centers such as Lowe's and Menards only carry the three piece assembly. This is so their customers can fit the carton in the trunk of their car. One piece shaft assymblies are only available from dealers. You will have to contact a dealer to get the one piece screw and rail assembly.
- Can you recommend an opener that works when the ceiling clearance is small?
The Wayne Dalton iDrive for Torquemaster would be your best bet. It mounts on the wall above the door. There is no overhead rail.
- I recently purchased a new vehicle and to my surprise it did not have the usual three button remote garage door opener built in. I am now seeking a universal remote that can be programmed similar to the way automotive installed remotes. I need three buttons and do not desire to have three seperate remotes clipped to my sun visor. Do you have such a model or can you direct me to a vendor who can fulfill my needs?
Your dealer may be able to install a Homelink remote in your new vehicle. Another option is to go to my website at Garage Door Opener Remotes, click on the Genie remote pictured. This remote only works with Genie and Liftmaster with "Intellicode" systems. If that is not compatible, click on the Amazon.com banner near the top of the page. Then on the Amazon site, type 3 button remote into the search box and you should find what you need. Check compatibility as "universal" remotes are not truly universal, none work with all brands.
- I have a Allstar 6000 garage door opener, and today my door is not opening. It does work when I pull the emergency cord, but I cannot open the door because it is too heavy. My question is, where is the closest Allstar garage door installer? My manual suggest to contacct them in case of this situation.
That is correct. There is a serious problem with your door, and it is something a do-it-yourself type cannot handle without professional help.
Allstar/Allister has been acquired by Linear. You will find a list of dealers online at
Allstar Dealer Locator. Or you can call Allstar Corp. Linear directly at their toll free line, 800.421.1587 (press 3).
- I was just wondering if you can tell me if there are any garage doors that you cannot use these door openers on. We have metal panel doors. Thanks for your time.
Any lightweight door regardless of type needs reinforcement when installing an automatic door opener. Most owners manuals have illustrated instructions for reinforcing your door. This site has links to owners manuals for several brands on the Brands page. As an example, Chamberlain Liftmaster Manuals have illustrations and instructions on page 19 and this works with any brand, not just Chamberlain's Liftmaster.
I'd like to figure out how to extend the operating range of my remote. Either by attaching an "extension" to the current antenna that is attached to the main unit or some other method of increasing the operating range.
Take some low voltage wire (a single wire, either solid or twisted strands, not multiple wires in a cable) and splice it onto the antenna and run it 20' or so to the front of the garage. This usually makes quite a difference unless the remotes batteries are weak.
