Craftsman 1/2 HP Keypad Won't Stay Locked...

by Rich
(Texas)

I have a 1/2 HP (I think that's what it is), and I've got two openers that both work fine. I also have a keypad for it and I'm able to set a code, or pin if you prefer, and everything seems fine at first. The problem comes after I leave it alone for awhile and press the "ENTER" button without entering the code and it operates the garage door. If I enter a wrong code first, it won't open the door (like it's supposed to work), but i leave it alone for about 10 minutes and then hit "ENTER", it opens. Even if the last code I tried was the wrong one. In other words, it just won't stay locked, no matter what the last code entered was. I've even reprogrammed it with a different code, and it still does the same thing. If anyone has any idea what's going on I'd appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks!

Its an electronics problem and not being an electronics engineer I know of no way to repair it other than a replacement.
