Garage door will not open with unit on wall or remotes, works fine manually makes a clicking noise then light on overhead unit flashes green 5 times

Manual says 5 flashes may mean Motor overheated or
possible RPM sensor
failure. Unplug to reset.

What does the LED that flashes 5 times mean for the garage door opener? What should the garage door owner do to correct the issue?

door only opens if I bang on it with a flashlight
by: Anonymous

I push the remote and I hear the click and the light comes on but the motor won't start. I will bang on it a few times with a flashlight and then everything works fine for a few times then back to the same old problem. the safety sensors are fine. Could the motor be worn out.

I doubt the motor is worn out (even though it is possible) but you will need a technician to come in and check to find the problem.

unit only clicks, led flashes 5 times
by: Anonymous

Tried to reset by unplugging the unit for 20 seconds, plugged back in and lights went out. tried the wall mounted switch again, and no response except for the clicks, and then the led lights started flashing 5 times again.

how else do you reset the unit to get the unit working again ?

Thanks.
