Sears basic Craftsman garage door opener model 53910 features a ½ HP motor on a chain drive system. This system includes a wall push button to open the door from inside, and 2 Security+® remotes to open one garage door from outside or inside.
Rolling code technology changes the code every time the remote button is pushed, with 100 billion possible codes.
I believe this unit comes with installation instructions. Installation is not difficult for the Do-It-Yourself type.
For the first 90 days, Sears provides a warranty (no owner's manual available for this one, at least not that I can find) to cover most everything. I believe this includes labor for the first 90 days. After 90 days, manufacturers warranty applies to motor and parts (you pay labor).
Most reviewers give this unit a low rating. There seem to be more complaints about the Craftsman garage door opener model 53910 than any other, but that may be because these are sold in such large quantities. Sears sells more units than most other retailers.
While it's not the most powerful unit around, it will handle lightweight double width garage doors. Most problems arise because of the plastic gears which drive the chain. If you are a do-it-yourself type, a gear kit can be purchased for about $15.00.
I have been unable to find a users manual for this unit. The LiftMaster 3265 is almost identical. Use this manual for reference to your Sears Craftsman 53910.
