Craftsman Garage Door Opener Sensor Lights

by Al
(Southington, Oh)

On my 3/4 horse Craftsman garage door opener, should both sensor lights be on?

The one on the right (green) is not lit so I am thinking that there is a short in the wiring.

The only way the door goes down is if I hold the wall remote down.

Thank so much,
Al

You are correct Al. Both sensors indicator lights should be on. Either there is a problem with the wiring or the sensors are bad.

Check each wire from sensor to motor for continuity. Is there a loose, pinched, or broken wire? Often there is a pinched or broken wire where the wire passes under a staple.

Craftsman garage door openers are made by Liftmaster and parts are fully interchangeable. If you need parts, we list the most popular at Chamberlain Liftmaster Garage Door Parts

Hope this helps,
Donald
