Craftsman model 139.53918 smart control not working

I have a craftsman model 139.53918 belt opener. hand remotes work fine, however the smart control light went blank and it will not open the door.

If I hold down the "light" key for about 20 seconds light on panel comes on,and then I hit the close/open door it works. then light goes off, and the open close bar does nothing by itself. just over a year old.

Ideas?
