Garage door only opens/closes sporadically

When using the remote opener in my car or my hand-held devise the door only opens/closes sporadically. It works fine using the button on the wall. What causes this and what can I do?

Not sure what you mean by sporadically, but have you tried replacing the batteries in your remotes?

Is the antenna wire hanging down and fully extended from the back of your garage door opener?

What happens when you press the button and the opener does not work?
