garage door open problem?

My garage door can not open completely. It open to about one foot and stop unless I pushed it up at the same time.

Either the opening force needs increased or the springs need adjusted.

If that doesn't work, you can try disconnecting the opener and open the door completely by hand. If it requires more than a few pounds of force, the problem is with the springs. If one is broken they will both have to be replaced.
