Garage door won't open-just buzzes

model number Legacy 496CD/B Unit is almost 6 years old.

Garage door won't open...we can hear it buzz but nothing engaging,

You probably have stripped gears.

Remove the openers cover and you will likely find white shavings (the gears are plastic).
