Garage Sale Pricing Will
Make or Break Your Profits

When it comes to garage sale pricing of your precious items that you are placing in your yard sale, you may find yourself facing a few decisions that you just cannot seem to make. While you are probably having a yard sale to help clear some space in your home, you also want to make some money, otherwise you would have just donated everything to a thrift store.

How much is too much when you are pricing items that are going into the sale? There are certain tips that you will want to follow if you want to make sure that your sale is a success, for both you and the buyers.

The first thing you need to remember is that something is only worth what someone is actually willing to pay for it. Therefore, even though you may think that something has a "book value" of $30, if people are only willing to offer you $10 for it, then it is only worth $10.

This is something that is hard for many people to adjust to, but in order to make sure that things keep moving at your sale, you have to remember this.

In addition, you want to make sure that you are fairly pricing brand new items. Many people try to sell brand new, never used items, for the price that they paid. Why would anyone want to pay the same price for something that they could get in the store and have the privilege of having a return policy they can fall back on?

You have to make garage sale pricing worth it to purchase it from you. This means that you have to at least discount the price of the item to about sixty percent of the average retail price.

To get some fast cash and to attract attention, have a dollar table. This is where anything and everything that is on the table goes for a dollar. Wine glasses, children's books, small pots, candles, playing cards, small toys, plates, cups, and salt and pepper shakers are excellent dollar table items. Children's clothing is also very popular at yard sales and you can sell a lot of it if you price them for a dollar each.

The thing to remember is that people come to yard sales for a bargain. Think about yourself as a customer visiting someone else's yard sale. What would you honestly be willing to pay for the stuff that you are putting out on the tables? If you think, even for a moment, that you are over pricing stuff, you probably are.

Another thing to keep in mind is that people are going to try to talk you down. While you do not have to give things away free, you will want to be a little flexible.

Feel free to discount things drastically as the sale ends, just so you can get rid of all of the leftovers that no one wanted. If you try your best to follow this garage sale pricing advice, you are sure to have a yard sale that your customers will love and that you will make a nice little profit from.
