Guardian Model 21230-L

Our door won't open or close when you push the remote, the light flashes 5 times but nothing happens. In the instruction book it says to reset the vacation switch but I don't know where abouts it is situated

On the wall control panel. That should also be in the manual.

Could be faulty control board
by: Anonymous

I have one of these, and when activated it would give 5 flashes after about 3 seconds of pushing the manual button (after a lot of playing around). Initially it flashed 5 times after about 30 seconds. I don't have a vacation button...

Investigation revealed a broken relay coil wire. The indication of this was that by removing the control panel I could (slowly) open the door position by turning the motor manually (with power off), and then when pushing the manual operate button with power on, the motor would close the door. My theory is that constant vibration has caused a relay coil fault (wire broke!).

Either source a new control board, or if you are capable, replace all 4 relays on the PCB (they should be 6A 240 VAC Form C (SPCO) contacts with a 24V DC coil drive). The PCB pinout must match (typically Form C contacts for a RayEx LE-24TW in my unit). Please beware that this is mains equipment, and you should not attempt repairs unless you are experienced at this - you could make the back terminals and cause other metal parts to become live, causing injury or death!

BTW - the manual is not great on fault finding. The error codes are very vague, and very easy to misinterpret.

Hope this helps someone....
