How Can I Change the Rail Length

by David
(Portland, Or , Usa)

My old garage door opener had a overall length, end of rail mounted over the door to back of motor = 119". the new opener has a length of 124".

I need to reduce the length because of a beam inside the garage that sits just behind the motor.

The new rail came in 5 segments. Is it possible to cut a little off of each segment.

It would be a lot easier and less problematic to order a one piece rail from a dealer specifically to fit your application.

Personally, I would prefer to move the beam rather than try to modify the rail.

Hope this helps,
Donald
