keyless entry kills batteries

I have a sears craftsman garage door opener. The Control pad for the keyless entry outside my garage goes through a lot of batteries all of a sudden. Is there a quick fix to this? Am I replacing the keyless entry.

There is some electrical leakage within the unit, kind of like a partial short.

Like most electronics nowadays, it will be less expensive to replace than to repair.
