Motor gets stuck

by Trunx
(OKC, OK)

I have unlatched the carrier and verified that there is no obstruction when opening and closing the door.

The chain will run for a little then get stuck. The motor runs then makes a loud hum as if it is caught up on something.

If I grab the chain and give it a boost, the motor is able to keep it going for a couple of cycles, but then gets stuck again eventually.

It seems like it happens on the same spot on the gear that engages the chain on the motor. When the motor runs, there is always a hiccup at that point when this particular spot engages the chain.

It is not smooth at all. What could be wrong? --Genie Pro 1022/1024

You will probably have to replace the drive gear. It sounds like one tooth is ready to break off soon or has become misshapen somehow.
