reprogram my one button remote

I've tried to reprogram my one button system but it will not take. I went thru the info on my owners manual but will not do it

First, make sure the battery in your remote is fully charged.

If it still will not work, see Neighbors Remote Opens My Garage Door for programming instructions.

If that also fails, you probably have a bad remote.
