How To Operate A
Successful Garage Sale

If you are thinking about having a garage sale, it is important to make sure that you are taking a few key steps in order to have a profitable time. Even though rummage sales can be fun to run, you want to make sure that the time and effort is worth it financially.

The first thing you need to do in order to have a fantastically successful yard sale is to advertise. Most people tend to think that advertising is expensive, but it doesn't have to be.

If your town has a free classifieds paper that they distribute, look into placing an ad in there. Post an advertisement on Craigslist, hang up posters at your local grocery stores, and tell everyone you know about the upcoming sale you are going to have.

Another why to make sure that you have a great yard sale is to get the neighbors involved. See if a few of your neighbors will have a garage sale on the same day. This way, you can advertise for a block sale, which will likely drive in more customers. The bigger the yard sale, the bigger the crowd.

You also want to make sure that you have a few high-ticket items. While you might get a few people stopping to look at your table of dollar store knick-knacks, you will get more traffic when you have some larger pieces on display.

Make sure that you are being pleasant and that you are willing to make deals. While you may love to make money, others love to get bargains. Of course you do not want to give anything away for free, you might have to be willing to give a little on the prices.

After all, if you do not sell anything, it is all going to the garbage or back into the house to take up space that you don't have.
