The Genie Company

The Genie Company was founded in 1923 as the Alliance Manufacturing Company. The name was changed to Genie® Home Products in 1985.

In May 1954 the company manufactured the first Genie Garage Door Opener. They introduced the first screw drive opener in 1958, and later the split rail design.

With these innovations, The Genie Garage Door Opener became especially popular with the Do-It-Yourself market, as well as home centers, hardware stores, shopping clubs and professional installers.

Overhead Door Corporation purchased the Genie Company in 1994. It wasn't long before Genie began manufacturing Overhead Door Garage Door Openers.

Today, Genie® manufactures remote-controlled garage door opening systems under several brand names, as well as a full line of commercial operators privately labeled for Overhead Door distributors.

Genie's garage door openers include advanced features such as:

  • Intellicode® remote access security system
  • Safe-T-Beamᵀᴹ infrared beam system that senses objects in the door's path
  • Genie claims their customer support - for retailers and end-users - is the industry best.

Genie Owners Manuals provide warranty information, installation instructions, troubleshooting guides, parts lists, schematics and diagrams, maintenance, and programming instructions.
